About Dr. Angelo

Dr. Angelo Goup Thon Kouch is Director of Health Security, Emergency Workforce Development and One Health at South Sudan’s Ministry of Health. With over 13 years of experience in emergency preparedness and response, he is the technical champion of 7-1-7 implementation in South Sudan and has played a central role in strengthening the country’s early warning and rapid response systems.

As the head of South Sudan’s 7-1-7 coordination team, Dr. Angelo has demonstrated that even in the most challenging humanitarian settings, 7-1-7 can drive meaningful progress in outbreak preparedness. His work to scale 7-1-7 from the national level to subnational health systems in South Sudan is a remarkable achievement. Beyond his national role, his active contributions to the 7-1-7 Community of Practice and cross-country learning exchanges have made him a valued voice in shaping how the 7-1-7 Alliance grows and improves—embodying the spirit of collective progress that 7-1-7 is built on.
