About Dr. Kokou
Dr. Kokou Alinon is Africa CDC’s Regional Director for the Western Africa Regional Coordinating Centre, based in Abuja, Nigeria. With over 15 years of experience in public health, he has played a central role in strengthening disease surveillance and emergency preparedness across African Union Member States, bringing regional leadership and coordination to health security efforts in West Africa.
Why he’s nominated
Dr. Kokou has been a tireless advocate for 7-1-7 uptake across West Africa and the broader continent—using his platform and convening power to ensure that timeliness and performance improvement are firmly on the regional health security agenda. His leadership has been instrumental in building the political will and institutional commitment needed to move 7-1-7 from awareness to action across some of Africa’s most complex and diverse health systems.
