Tamara Mancero

Regional Advisor for International Health Regulations, PAHO Health Emergencies Department, Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization

Dr. Mancero is the Regional Advisor for the International Health Regulations (IHR) at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), based in Washington, DC, which includes the implementation of the IHR Monitoring and Evaluation Framework by State Parties to the IHR in the Region of the Americas.

Dr. Mancero has over 25 years of field experience working with the ministries of health and PAHO/WHO to fight communicable diseases such as malaria, onchocerciasis, and others. She was the Communicable Diseases advisor in Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, and in Argentina were she also led PAHO/WHO’s emergency responses to outbreaks; and she was deployed to Liberia to support WHO’s response to the Ebola outbreak of 2014.

Dr. Tamara Mancero obtained her degree as Medical Doctor from the Universidad Central, Ecuador, and her PhD in Health Information Systems for Decision-Making from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom. She also holds a master’s degree in epidemiology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Ecuador.
